Dr. László Gellér was born in 1971 in Budapest. During the university studies he started to deal with electrophysiology. He finished his university studies in 1996, he got his PhD degree in 2003. He became a specialist on internal medicine in 2005 and a specialist in cardiology in 2008. He was awarded with Kunos István prize for his experimental electrophysiology work in 2003 and „Forthe Cardiovascular Center” prize for his clinical work. He is skilled in clinical electrophysiology and haemodynamics. He has 50 accepted papers in English or in German language. He is a Member of Hungarian Society of Cardiology since 1996, he was the President of Young Cardiologist Section of Hungarian Society of Cardiology from 2001–2007, since 2001 he is a Member of Leadership of the Hungarian Society of Cardiology and a Member of Leadership of the Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology Workgroup of Hungarian Society of Cardiology. Since 2007 he is the Vice President of the Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology Workgroup of Hungarian Societyof Cardiology.

Abstract

Treatment of incessant ventricular tachycardia (VT) regardless of its origin is always challenging, antiarrhythmic (AA) drugs, overdrive pacing, sedation and supportive therapies often fail to cease the arrhythmia. VT ablation in case of electrical storm has also lots of difficulties, because these patient’s cardiac function is frequently impaired, but in most of the cases this can be the last chance for the patients suffering from incessant VT. RF ablation- as the last chance - should be attempted in all incessant VT cases, where other treatments were not effective. Electroanatomical mapping is essential in most of the cases. In postinfarction patients the septal part of the inferior or anterior scar seems to have considerable significance, however this issue needs further investigation. When endocardial ablation is not effective, epicardial ablation might be attempted. Left ventricular ejection fraction has also considerable significance in short and long time survival after incessant VT ablation.
